Mackay Baptist Church is involved in providing special care to people in need. Our Mission Statement proclaims that we are seeking to offer hope, care and compassion to a needy society in response to the two great commandments of Jesus, "To love God, and to love others."
To fulfill this Mission we want to be working both within the community and within the Church because we believe that the Baptist Church should be:
- Out in the community, putting faith into action.
- Meeting physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs of individuals.
- Teaching people life skills.
- Training people for service to other.
- Keeping families together.
- Nurturing young lives.
- Restoring broken relationships.
- Supporting and caring for senior citizens.
At Mackay Baptist Church we are aware of the enormous pressure placed on our Church Family and the Communities everyday needs. At Mackay Baptist Church we have identified an opportunity to provide our Church Family and Community members with access toProfessional Counselling services. In partnership with Queensland Bapcare we have set up the Mackay Baptist Care Counselling Service. As of April 2008 we will be operating from 58A Wellington St. Mackay.
This is a full time professional service to the whole community offering experienced qualified counsellors to assist with the needs of the Christian and wider community.
In addition to Counselling the Mackay Baptist Church also offers Professional Courses relating to the needs of today. These courses include:
- "Alternatives to Anger"
- "Coping with Depression and Anxiety from a Christian Perspective"
- "Dealing with Grief"
- "Building Self Esteem"
